Series Preview: Dbacks (76-58) vs. Rockies (11-8 3.81)

Friday, September 1st 6:40pm: Taijuan Walker (7-7 3.55) vs. Kyle Freeland (11-8 3.81)

Going into this series, the Rockies offense has been flat and they as a team have been struggling for wins while the Dbacks are fresh off sweeping the Dodgers, the first team to do that this year. Needless to say, the Dbacks are hot and the Rockies are cold, and this series could very much put the Rockies playoff chances in jeopardy. On the flip side, this series could give the Rockies momentum and put them in a much better position. With two wins, the Rockies are going to be within 2.5 of the Dbacks, but that will be no easy task. Taijuan Walker has been good against the Rockies this year and with their offense struggling, they will need Freeland to be very good. He has that ability, but it would be great to see some offense out of this series.

Saturday, September 2nd 6:10pm: Patrick Corbin (12-11 3.91) vs. Jon Gray (6-3 4.18)

In his last time out, Jon Gray was great keeping the Braves from scoring in 6+ innings. However, his counterpart Patrick Corbin has been absolutely fantastic. In his last four starts, Corbin has pitched 30.1 innings and allowed only one run while striking out 29. It will be no easy task facing Corbin, though the Rockies did get to him for eight runs in early May. This is a huge series for the Rockies ace, so this is a series you want to see the young guys show what they have and the veterans prove why they have played a long time.

Sunday, September 3rd 1:10pm: Zack Godley (6-7 3.29) vs. Antonio Senzatela (10-5 4.68)

Unfortunately for the Rockies, the Dbacks rotation has been terrific this year and they don’t really have a weak starter going into this series, and that is without facing Zack Greinke or Robbie Ray. As stated many times, this is a huge series that the Rockies need to win, especially at home. They have gone cold on the road recently and their saving grace will be playing well at home, which has not really been a thing recently either. The offense needs to step up and hopefully some September call ups provide reinforcements.
