Rockies cruise to victory behind offense

With a big offensive night from Mark Reynolds and a solid start from Senzatela, the Rockies were able to take game one of the two game set against the Indians. Mark Reynolds homered twice and Cargo homered as well in the Rockies 11-3 offensive win.

Senzatela gave the Rockies a quality start and earned himself a win. Antonio went 6.1 innings allowing three runs on six hits. All the runs came via the homer with the last two coming off a two-run bomb in the seventh. It was not Senzatela’s best start of the year, but it was a good one and it gave the Rockies length.

The scoring started early for Colorado and came from their pitcher who wanted to help himself. With runners on second and third, the Indians opted to walk Tony Wolters to face Senzatela instead. Sensei made them pay with a bases clearing double to the right field gap.

The Rockies would put a couple more on the board with Cargo’s fifth home run of the year. Cargo had a big night offensively tallying two hits and two walks while scoring four runs.

Cargo scoring runs was mainly because of the man of the night, Mark Reynolds. Reynolds, who has been in a bit of a slump recently, broke out of it in a big way on Tuesday. In the bottom of the fifth, Reynolds hit a three-run homer down the right field line, his 14th of the year. With a man on in the seventh, Reynolds hit another one out, this time a no-doubter, to straight away center.

The game wasn’t all good news as Gerardo Parra left the game after coming up lame on a stolen base attempt. Parra was removed and has been placed on the DL, meaning the Rockies are short one of their most consistent players. Luckily, left-handed outfield depth is what the Rockies have a surplus of so they will not be short in that regard.

Colorado sends Freeland to the mound on Wednesday to try and complete the quick two game sweep. Freeland has been great this year, both at home and away, and he will try and limit the Indians offense again. Colorado faces Trevor Bauer who has been rough so hopefully a repeat of Tuesday’s game happens.
