Friday, May 26th 6:40pm: Carlos Martinez (3-3 3.28) vs. Antonio Senzatela (6-1 3.67)

After their best road trip ever, the Rockies head home to face the first place St. Louis Cardinals. They will send three rookies to the hill for an important series that hopefully keeps them ahead of the Diamondbacks and Dodgers. Carlos Martinez is the first to face the Rockies and he has either been terrific or less than good. Martinez gave nine innings in a no decision his last time out, but that was purely because of a lack of run support. The Rockies have a .361 average against Martinez so this could be a good way to start the series, but with how he pitched last time, it really is up in the air.

Saturday, May 27th 7:10pm: Adam Wainwright (4-3 4.81) vs. Kyle Freeland (5-2 3.31)

Wainwright is not the pitcher he once was as he had a career worse year in 2016, but he has been better so far in 2017. Wainwright has been good his last two times out, but he has also walked at least three batters in each of his starts in May. That will mean patience on the Rockies end as they will look to hit balls in the zone. If they are swinging at pitches out of the zone, it means Wainwright could take the win, but they have been hot on offense lately so that bodes well. Freeland has been the Rockies best starter so this game does look good for Colorado, but rookies have bumps in the road and that leaves every start up in the air.

Sunday, May 28th 1:10pm: Lance Lynn (4-2 2.53) vs. German Marquez (3-2 3.86)

Lance Lynn has been arguably the Cardinals best pitcher, though that is hard to argue as they have had a recent streak of good starts. That would normally mean trouble for the Rockies, but they have also had a lot of success with starters, especially coming from their rookies. Marquez, despite only having six starts, has accumulated a 1.1 bWAR which is good for seventh on the team. Really, any of these three rookies making starts in this series has shown why the Rockies are doing so well this year. The young guns have carried this team and they can only hope they don’t fall off.
