Thursday, July 21st 6:40pm: Mike Foltynewicz (3-3 3.70 ERA) vs. Chad Bettis (7-6 5.55 ERA)
The Rockies won their last game when these two faced off, but it took some help from the Braves and Foltynewicz pitched plenty well to earn the win. This game could end differently as the Rockies have been struggling lately and the game is at Coors Field. However, after losing the series to the Rays, the Rockies should be hungry to come out against a team they took two of three from earlier and now they are at home. This first game could very well tell the tale of the series and if the Rockies offense falls flat like they have the last two games, this will be a long series.
Friday, July 22nd 6:40pm: Julio Teheran (3-8 2.79 ERA) vs. Jon Gray (5-4 4.33 ERA)
These two young pitchers mean a lot for the future of the league. For Jon Gray, he is the Rockies pitcher of the future and he has been showing that each start he makes. Julio Teheran is also a terrific starter, but for him and the Braves, they may not be long together. Teheran could get some really great pieces if the Braves decide to trade him and many competing teams are looking for pitching rotation depth. In the last start these two had a pitchers duel in which the Braves came out on top. If the Rockies can use their home field advantage in this game, Teheran may have his worst start of the year, but Teheran is a good pitcher and could just as well shut the Rockies down again.
Saturday, July 23rd 6:10pm: Matt Wisler (4-9 4.67 ERA) vs. Tyler Anderson (2-3 3.43 ERA)
This will be a new matchup for these teams that met a week ago and it is a matchup that favors the Rockies. While Wisler has not been bad, he has struggled more recently giving up twelve runs in his last two starts. Tyler Anderson has not struggled and even though he had his worst major league start in his last outing, it was a start that still won him and the Rockies the game. Going against a week Braves lineup and a pitcher that has struggled should be a confidence building game for the Rockies and could end in a blowout.
Sunday, July 24th 2:10pm: Tyrell Jenkins (0-1 4.05 ERA) vs. Tyler Chatwood (8-6 3.83 ERA)
Tyrell Jenkins is a rookie pitcher who has been decent in two starts and six appearances this year. Tyler Chatwood needs to make a major adjustment in this home start to regain some of his confidence. His last start did not end well for the Rockies or Chatwood and a change to the way he pitches is necessary. He will face a weak offense and that should help, but as shown in this last series, even a struggling offense can unload against the Rockies at home.
