Tuesday, June 21st 5:05pm: Chad Bettis (5-5 5.63 ERA) vs. Ivan Nova (5-4 4.77 ERA)
Bettis was much better in his last start, which happened to be against the Yankees. If he can replicate that the Rockies will be in business. Especially if they can get to Nova again. Ivan was not that great in his last start which was against the Rockies. He went five innings while allowing five runs. Yankee Stadium is a pretty hitter friendly park, and with the short porch in right, hitters like Blackmon and Cargo could very easily go yard. Getting some of the offense that they got last night in Miami will be important in winning this series.
Wednesday, June 22nd 11:05am: Jon Gray (4-3 4.55 ERA) vs. C.C. Sabathia (5-4 2.20 ERA)
The Rockies did not see Sabathia last time they came to town and the Yankees didn’t see Gray. This is a matchup of aces as Gray has been fantastic this year and Sabathia seems to be rejuvenated from some very lackluster years. This will be interesting matchup and with it being a day game, the ball could be flying out of the park. However, both of these pitchers have the ability to hustle their way through a lineup and shut lineups down. If the Rockies offense can produce a little bit this game could easily go to the Rockies, but without a couple of runs, it may not matter how well Gray pitches as you need to score to win. This is an important series for the Rockies to win as it will put them back on track after losing three of four in Miami. With a sweep they will be within a game of .500 and headed home where they have played much better recently.
