Tuesday, June 14th 6:40pm: Nathan Eovaldi (6-2 4.42 ERA) vs. Jorge De La Rosa (2-4 8.81 ERA)
The Rockies will start a rare series against the Yankees on Tuesday with Jorge De La Rosa returning to the mound. In three reliever appearances, De La Rosa was much better than any start he had in the rotation. It will be interesting to see if he can keep that up in his return to the hill. Eovaldi is coming off of two rough starts in which he gave up 10 runs over the course of 10.2 innings. Going to Coors Field could be more of the same, but Eovaldi has some really good stuff and could easily shut the Rockies down depending on how his fastball and breaking stuff is working.
Wednesday, June 15th 1:10pm: Ivan Nova (5-3 4.39 ERA) vs. Chad Bettis (4-5 5.85 ERA)
This is an important start for Chad Bettis. With a jam of young, capable pitchers waiting for starts in the rotation, recent struggles from Bettis could see him being removed from the rotation for some willing to prove themselves. If Bettis doesn’t have a good start, his place may be back to the bullpen, or with a different team at a different level. The Rockies have a good shot to win this short series. Coming off of an off day they will have gotten some needed rest and should come out with a lot of energy. The stadium should be packed for this rare two game set against a historic AL team and the Rockies have a chance to prove themselves as a worth team.
